Note

Born in Tokyo. Working across two coasts.

Ark Miura was born in Tokyo. As the representative of African Youth Meetup, she has organized events for young people of African descent in Japan alongside members who are students or working full-time.

Her co-directed documentary Ark & Maya: All Mixed Up screened at Tokyo Documentary Film Festival 2021. After graduating high school, she took a gap year to shoot the independent film Emily & Blakey with friends, later screened at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies' TUFS Cinema.

She has interviewed mixed-race people born during the American Occupation of Japan, and in 2024 shot a video about a lawsuit seeking to end racially discriminatory police questioning. She served as a torchbearer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Her films and songs can be found on Instagram and YouTube at @jeunnedark.
